Description
Scientific Name: Callisphyris macropus
Common Names: Chilean Longhorn Beetle / Macrops Longhorn Beetle
This is a longhorn beetle with a peculiar appearance, believed to mimic wasps.
The characteristic body hairs have been carefully raised and the specimen is expertly mounted.
It is featured in The World's Most Beautiful Beetle Encyclopedia as an extraordinary beetle, and it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful species of longhorn beetle I have ever seen. It possesses a delicacy that belies its classification as a longhorn beetle.
The exact specimen pictured from Valdivia, Los Ríos Region, Chile will be shipped. It was collected on December 29, 1990.
I measured the body length to be 16mm.
