Gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa) Bare-root Seedlings, Small, 2 Plants [Nekoposu (Anonymous Shipping)]

Gooseberry (Suguri)

The original plant is very old (it existed in Hokkaido from the late Taisho to pre-Showa period) and has been grown in the Kanto region for several decades. The variety is unknown.

This listing is for small bare-root seedlings, approximately a few centimeters to 15 centimeters in size.
To increase the success rate of transplanting, these seedlings have been well-rooted and exposed to a full year of temperature fluctuations.
We will ship two plants from seedlings similar to those pictured, with the soil removed.
While shipping is scheduled within 7 days, we will ship as soon as possible depending on our circumstances and the weather. Thank you for your understanding.
? We also have listings for shipping via regular mail. (Regular mail shipping will be suspended during long holidays and high-temperature periods.)

Plant Characteristics
This plant has charming leaves and berries. When planted in the ground, it can grow to a height of about 100-150 cm.
It is deciduous in winter.
Once the plant matures and stabilizes, it will bear fruit (the fruiting varies greatly depending on conditions). The berries can be eaten fresh when ripe or processed into jam.

Notes
As the plant grows, we may trim it if it outgrows its container. (New shoots will grow.)
Please handle with care as it has thorns.
These plants are grown in a typical home garden, so while we take precautions, small insects may be present. Please be aware if you are sensitive to this.

Planting Overview
Planting is best done in a cool location that is not exposed to direct sunlight during the peak of summer.
Upon arrival, please soak the roots in water before planting. It is recommended to water frequently until the plant is established.
If purchasing during a hot period, it is safer to temporarily plant the seedling in a pot or similar container and keep it in a shaded area until the weather cools down.
To mitigate risk, you may consider planting two seedlings in different environments.
