Founded in the late Edo period as a cooperage, crafting bath pails, rice tubs, and sake barrels. It is said that the founder, Genshichi Tanaka, first used the name TaruGen. After World War II, they began creating barrels with high artistic value, such as sake cups, cooking tubs, and flower tubs. Their refined, timeless designs and practicality are highly regarded and are used in ryokans and restaurants throughout Japan, including in Kyoto.
