Centipedegrass TifBlair
This is a product page for 60 plants.

Grown from officially purchased seeds in 200 pots.
(Each cell is 2.4 x 2.4 cm)

We plant them in rice paddy levees at a width of 25-30 cm.
Before planting, we thoroughly remove weeds with herbicide.
After planting, we manually remove weeds for a while and water every 2-3 days.
(If you find this troublesome, simply mowing the grass will gradually allow the TifBlair to outcompete the weeds.)
With occasional weeding, it will grow in nicely within about 3 years.
Our levee maintenance has been reduced to twice a year mowing! (Using a Spider Mower)
The leaves turn reddish-brown in winter as they die back.
New shoots emerge in spring and become lush green by summer.

Since growth is minimal in winter, it's best to plant by summer. The official recommended planting period is late May to late August.

In my experience, on slopes, the grass grows about 20% upwards and 80% downwards. Therefore, I plant them higher up on slopes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
● Height: 10-25 cm. The stolons grow rapidly, and the internodes are dense, forming a thick turf.
● Strong cold tolerance; there are cases in the US where it has withstood temperatures as low as -23.5℃ (common varieties may not survive even at -10℃).
● The roots are thick and grow deep, firmly holding the soil on levees and slopes.
● Earlier spring germination than common varieties, with dense stolons that maintain greenness until late autumn. This effectively suppresses weed growth.
● Excellent longevity; once established on levees, it requires almost no mowing for over 10 years.
● Highly adaptable to soil conditions, growing in soil pH from 4.2 to 8.5. Shows very little growth inhibition on reclaimed coastal land.
