Aralia seedling, Aralia sprout, home garden

This is a bare-root seedling of a natural thorny Aralia elata (Taranoki) plant.
The photos are for reference. The plant is growing daily.

These seedlings were grown from seed roots.
We will deliver 3 first-year seedlings via Nekoposu (Japanese postal service for small packages). We can also accommodate 1 or 2 seedlings. Please comment before purchasing to change the number of seedlings.

Unlike naturally occurring seedlings, these have well-developed roots.
The roots will be delivered with soil attached, without washing.
If you do not plant them immediately, please keep them submerged in water using a tray or bucket.

Seedlings that do not fit within the Nekoposu size will be trimmed.
If the plant does not seem to be doing well after planting in a pot, it is okay to trim wilted leaves.
Do not cut the leaves in the center, as they are the growth points.

Larger pots with plenty of soil are best for growth. If you don't have one, a pot or small container is fine for the first year. When the leaves wither and the plant goes dormant, please repot it before next spring.

If planted in the ground, it will grow vigorously.
Aralia elata sprouts from its extended roots, so it will multiply considerably over several years.
You can harvest many edible tara no me (Aralia shoots), but it is a thorny tree. Planting it where it might encroach on a neighbor's property could cause trouble, so please be careful about where you plant it.
While some people may appreciate it, please manage it responsibly.

We will dig up the seedlings and ship them immediately after your purchase.
