This image is believed to be a type of chirori or a lidded vessel for chirori, or a type of tokkuri (sake flask), used for warming Japanese sake.
This is a sake vessel primarily used for making kanzake (warm sake).
A chirori has a handle and a spout, and you can pour Japanese sake into it and warm it by immersing it in hot water heated in a pot or other container.
A lidded vessel like the one in the image helps to retain heat when making warm sake and also prevents dust from entering.
In addition to ceramic, they are also made from materials such as tin, brass, and silver.
