This is a lidded dish (small bowl, pickle dish, simmered dish bowl) of Arita ware with traditional hand-painted designs.

Features and Details: The white porcelain is beautifully decorated with vibrant blue sometsuke (underglaze blue) and red aka-e (overglaze red) depicting autumn flavors and vegetables such as turnips or persimmons.

Design: The lid's knob has a three-dimensional shape like a flower bud, and the rim of the bowl and the line of the lid are delicately accented with gold leaf (gold trim), creating an elegant finish.

Uses: Can be used multi-purposefully as a lidded dish for pickles, preserved foods, as a small bowl, or for serving simmered dishes.

Features of Kazan Kiln's Turnip Design: Auspicious Motif: Turnips (daikon and kabu) have long been considered auspicious designs (Kichijō mon'yō) for wishing for business prosperity and career advancement, as they are associated with rising stock and improving reputation.

Traditional Colors: The vibrant blue sometsuke is used to depict the leaves, while red and yellow iro-e are applied to the body of the turnip, which is Kazan Kiln's signature traditional style.

Delicate Gold Leaf: The rim of the dish and the knob of the lid are adorned with elegant gold leaf, making it useful not only for everyday use but also for special occasions like New Year's or entertaining guests.
