Description
Material: Cedar, straight grain. Board thickness: 1.7cm. With lid. Width: 49cm. Depth: 34cm. Height: 23cm. Handle height: 38.5cm.
The decorative holes on the left and right sides are for passing ropes through to carry items such as onigiri, dumplings, mochi, and sekihan wrapped in magnolia leaves when going to the fields. We are told this is done for its sterilizing properties. The vertical lines on the underside of the lid are knife marks from when it was used as a cutting board for mochi, dumplings, etc. in the fields. ★ If using to hold water, please soak in water overnight before use.
