?This is a well-finished sake bottle with a unique, bold texture thinly tinged with red, accented by reddish areas resembling hi-dazuki (a type of firing effect), giving it a tasteful appearance.
Seiji Yamada (1932-2013) was a leading figure in Mino tea pottery who independently pursued Shino ware, aiming to rival Momoyama period pottery. A collection of his works was published by Akira Shimura, who was deeply impressed by his art.
Due to the nature of pottery, cracks (kannyu) may appear.
