Antique find from an old house: Cat bookends / Nambu ironware by Tadahiro Baba design, cat, vintage item

Description
【ABH】
This item was acquired from an old family home.
It was used as part of a dowry, and I was told it is a pair of cat bookends made of Nambu ironware, designed by Tadahiro Baba.
As this is a vintage item, there are scuffs, scratches, and dirt.
It is a very atmospheric piece, but one of the cats does not stay in the correct position; when tightened, it stops partway.
