Domestic Genuine Japanese Knife, Yanagiba, Custom Order, Blade Length 28cm, Double-Sided Hamon (Temper Line).

This is a genuine Hon-yaki Yanagiba knife by Kuniyuki.
The blade length is approximately 28cm.
The steel type is unknown.
It is made of solid steel.
The handle is a black buffalo horn octagonal handle.
It is single-edged.

Kuniyuki refers to the Fudo Kuniyuki brand, crafted by Masakuni Genkai.
The unique water-yaki hamon (on both sides) is beautiful.
Masakuni Genkai (Mr. Muneo Mukai) passed away last September.
This may be considered his posthumous work.

As it is water-yaki, the hamon is subtle.
I polished it to a mirror finish, but if the final compound is too fine, the hamon will disappear because it is subtle.
This time, after using a fine-grit compound, I used a coarser compound, and the hamon appeared.
Normally, we use fine-grit compounds to remove cloudiness from the metal surface, but I stopped midway this time.

Although it is called a Yanagiba, it is thought to be a very slim shape, suitable for the use of a slender Tako-hiki or Fugu-hiki knife.

It is an old item with rust and scratches, which I have repaired, but due to the mirror finish and hamon, some minor scratches remain.
The edge near the heel is slightly obtuse due to a specific sharpening technique.
If you don't mind, I recommend it.

I am unsure if I should be listing a genuine Hon-yaki Kuniyuki, which rarely appears, at this price, but if you are interested, please consider purchasing it.

Recommended for professionals, collectors, and general users alike.

The knife has been finished on a Kitayama 8000 grit whetstone, a Shapton 30000 grit whetstone, and a natural whetstone.
It is very sharp and ready for immediate use.
