Izumikanemitsu Yanagiba Knife (1 shaku) and Deba Knife (7 sun) Set with Buffalo Horn Handle
97.68 $
Description
This is a set of a Yanagiba knife and a Deba knife from Izumi Gen Kanemitsu, a long-established knife manufacturer with over 500 years of history in Sakai, Osaka, one of Japan's three major cutlery production areas. Both knives feature water buffalo horn ferrules.
Both knives show signs of use commensurate with their age, such as polishing scratches and marks from rust removal, but are in good condition.
The Deba knife weighs a substantial 414g, indicating it is a luxurious piece made with abundant steel. Also, as both knives appear quite old, they are likely made with higher quality steel than what is used today.
