It appears to be from a relatively recent era (Heisei period or later), but its purchase and usage history are unknown.
Nail Hammer
Nail hammers are said to be easier to control for hammering nails up and down because the nail-pulling side is lighter than the striking side, shifting the center of gravity towards the striking surface, making it easier for the striking surface to point directly downwards.
