One-of-a-kind, Yokai, Snake Woman, Mummy, Hirakuchi-sama, Strange Specimen, Mummy, Bakemonogatari
From the Imperial Oddities Club:
This Yokai Snake Woman is believed to be a type of mummy strongly influenced by the mountain snake worship (Hirakuchi faith) that has long been passed down in regions where vipers and other snakes are called Hirakuchi.
According to ancient documents, it is recorded that in mountainous areas with scarce farmland, infants were offered as sacrifices to Hirakuchi-sama as a prayer for a good harvest, in order to reduce the mouths to feed.
Numerous folk tales involving snakes remain, such as the legend that the anger and sorrow of a mother who sacrificed her child transformed her into a vengeful snake woman.
This eerie specimen, adorned with the legend of the snake woman, is sure to leave a unique impression on viewers.
