Description
This is ash from a wood stove this year.
It is wood ash from oak, sawtooth oak, and cherry trees, harvested from the rich satoyama of Mie Prefecture.
No lighter fluid is used; kindling made from kuromoji twigs is used for ignition.
My meticulous husband sifts it about three times, double-bags it in plastic, and ships it in a cardboard box.
It is used for:
Ash for hibachi (braziers)
Ash for incense burners
Glaze for pottery
Dyeing
Removing bitterness from vegetables, etc.
This is not fertilizer.
