＜About this product＞
Sazare-ishi (small pebbles) are formed when limestone dissolves in rainwater and the leached components (such as calcium carbonate) act like cement, binding surrounding small stones together to form a large mass. Its scientific name is calcareous breccia, a type of sedimentary rock, and it is a stone like a crystal of time formed over many years.
The phrase from the national anthem, Sazare-ishi no iwa to narite... (small pebbles growing into boulders...), refers to this type of stone.
?This is a rare natural stone, unique in its shape, produced around Mt. Ibuki, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, located on the border of Gifu and Shiga prefectures.
?It can be used as a decorative stone as is, such as for bonseki (tray landscapes) or suiseki (viewing stones), or it can be made more attractive by allowing moss to grow on its surface.
?There may be slight differences in color tone and shading between the photos and the actual product.
?The designation of front and back for photography is for convenience.
