<About this product>
Sazare-ishi are stones formed when limestone dissolves in rainwater and other elements (such as calcium carbonate) act as a cement, binding surrounding pebbles into a large mass. Scientifically, they are a type of sedimentary rock called calcareous breccia, and are like crystals of time formed over many years.
The phrase from the national anthem, Sazare-ishi no iwao to narite... (Until pebbles grow into boulders...), refers to this type of stone.
?This is a rare natural stone, unique in its shape, produced around Mt. Ibuki, one of Japan's famous mountains located on the border of Gifu and Shiga prefectures.
?It can be used as a decorative stone as is, for bonsai or suiseki (viewing stones), or it can be enhanced with moss grown on its surface for added charm.
?There may be slight differences in color and shade between the photos and the actual product.
?The front and back in the photos are designated for convenience.
