Shizuoka Prefecture-produced Madake bamboo charcoal.
This is prepared bamboo that has been baked and sifted into different sizes.

Large pieces, 1cm or larger.

Uses: For gardening, soil improvement.
How to use: Mix 5% to 10% bamboo charcoal with the amount of soil.
Main effects: Improves aeration, microbial environment, water retention and drainage, and creates a fluffy texture. Use to help adjust overly acidic soil in Japanese vegetable gardens with frequent rain. (Common vegetables prefer slightly acidic to neutral pH 6-7).
Compatible plants: Succulents, leeks, tomatoes, herbs.
Packaging: Used cardboard box (100 size, 27x28x41cm), polyethylene bag (0.03mm), tied shut with wire in two places (to prevent fine powder leakage).

The photo shows the charcoal being weighed on a home scale and sun-dried after being packed into the box, representing the actual quantity. After subsequent weighing, it contains 4.3kg.
