[Miyajima Rice Paddle]
The origin of the Miyajima rice paddle is said to be the Kansei era (1789-1801) of the Edo period.
It is also popular as a lucky charm for victory in battle, business prosperity, and family safety, due to the superstition of scooping up enemies (meshi-toru, which sounds like to take rice).
It has the following characteristics:
* Rice grains do not stick easily.
* The smell of wood does not transfer to the rice.
* It is resistant to deformation even with hot rice.
