Lindera umbellata is characterized by its refreshing and elegant aroma. It has been cherished since ancient times as a Japanese aromatic wood.

?? Green branches (1-year-old/young branches)
* Characteristics: Young branches have a vibrant dark green color with blackish mottled patterns (spots).
* Aroma: The refreshing sweet aroma is strongest, making them ideal for high-quality toothpicks and essential oil raw materials.
* Condition: The surface is smooth, and fine hairs may be present initially.
?? Gray branches (2-year-old and older branches/mature trees)
* Characteristics: As they grow, the green bark peels off, changing from grayish-brown to a gradually grayish color.
* Texture: Mature tree bark becomes slightly rough, and round lenticels called kawame become noticeable.
* Aroma: The aroma is milder compared to young branches.

Collected from trees growing wild on our mountain.
