Engraving Chisel Set, Red Handle, 9 Pieces

This is a set of 9 engraving chisels (tagane).
This set includes the basic chisels needed for engraving.
You can practice basic pattern engraving with this set.

From left to right:
Hairline engraving chisel, blade width 0.9mm
Hairline engraving chisel, blade width 1.4mm
Round engraving chisel, blade width 1.4mm
Single-line engraving chisel, blade width 2.0mm
Single-line engraving chisel, blade width 2.6mm
Texturing chisel, striking surface 1.6mm x 1.9mm
Pointed punch chisel
Claw-gathering flat chisel, striking surface 1.4mm x 1.8mm
Round punch chisel, tip 1.0mm?

These are commercially available red chisels that have been shaped and polished.
The hairline, round, and single-line engraving chisels have been hardened and tempered.

The hairline, round, and single-line engraving chisels have a slight radius (curve) applied,
making them suitable for curved engraving.
While you can engrave straight lines with curved chisels,
it is difficult to engrave clean curves with chisels designed for straight lines that lack a radius.

Please refer to images 9 onwards for examples of how to use the following chisels.

★ Texturing chisel... This chisel is used to create a textured, matte surface on metal by hammering.
It is used by striking the flat surface of a flat chisel with a pointed punch chisel to create fine irregularities.
Please refer to image 9, ②.
Another method is to strike a medium or coarse diamond brick to create texture.

★ Pointed punch chisel... This chisel is used to create new irregular surfaces when the texturing chisel becomes dull. It is hardened.
If it chips, anneal it, sharpen it with a file, and then re-harden it for use.
Please refer to image 10.

★ Claw-gathering flat chisel... This chisel is used when creating elements like flower buds,
to gather the claws engraved from four directions towards the center.
Please refer to image 9, ④-⑤.
After gathering, cover with a mill chisel (nanako chisel) and hammer to round.
*Please purchase commercially available mill chisels (nanako chisels).
In image 9, ⑥, a size 22 mill chisel is used.
*Can also be used for small bezel settings.

★ Round punch chisel... This chisel is used to create round indentations on metal.
When used within lines engraved with a hairline chisel,
it creates cleaner, continuous punched marks.
Please refer to image 11.
*Can also be used to prevent drill bit wandering when drilling holes.

These can be used as is, but the edges will become dull and harder to engrave with over time.

We recommend this product to those who have knowledge and skills in shaping and polishing chisels.
