This is a handmade Japanese honeybee hive box, 3-tier waiting box.
The top tier has a slatted bottom for Japanese honeybees to easily build their nests.
The middle tier has a fall prevention device for hot summer months.
The bottom tier has an inspection door, making it easy to clean the bottom and feed the bees.
The entrance (sumon) is typically 7mm high.
Made of 27mm thick Japanese cedar.
Dimensions of one tier (outer): 300mm x 300mm x 195mm.
Finished height: 600mm.
The thick boards prevent the honeycomb from falling in the summer.
Includes a frame to prevent lateral slippage.
The bottom board is not included.
The exterior has been torched to prevent deterioration and increase the likelihood of bees moving in.
