This is a nesting box (super) for Japanese honeybee beekeeping.

When harvesting honey in the fall, it is necessary to reserve one-quarter to at most one-third of the honeycomb for overwintering food. Therefore, to allow for honey harvesting based on the development of the honeycomb, the height has been set to approximately 12.5 cm.
While it's natural to want to taste honey once a colony has moved in, a tall super can inadvertently cut into the pollen or brood layers.
This height allows you to enjoy your own honey while still ensuring enough food for overwintering.
Depending on the strength of the colony, a total of 5 boxes should be sufficient for year-round beekeeping. You can then decide whether to harvest honey from one or two boxes based on how much the comb has developed.

Product Features:
Each super is equipped with bamboo crossbars to prevent comb collapse. Since bees tend to climb walls, these bars are minimally obstructive to the bees. Regardless of the direction the bees build their comb, the bars will always cross, and they are easy to remove.
To prevent wires or knives from hitting the box during honey harvesting, the box has been designed with notches for easy attachment and detachment. (While all boxes come with comb collapse bars, using them every other box should still provide sufficient support.)

This is an expansion nesting box (super). Please check the outer and inner dimensions and compare them with your existing hive boxes before purchasing. (This product is made using 3 cm thick cedarwood.)

The exterior and joining surfaces of the hive box have been torched, but the interior surfaces have not been torched.

As this is a handmade product made from natural materials, please be aware that there may be variations in knots and wood grain, slight shifts due to expansion and contraction, and minor imperfections from the handcrafting process.
