Made in Japan, 9-Tined Shuro Palm Broom, New, Unused, Deadstock, Showa Retro
Dead Stock, Made in Japan, 9-Tuft Broom, Chinese Chusan Palm, Hoki, New, Unused, Dead Stock, Showa Retro, Antique, Maruboshi-jirushi Hoki Kogyosho, 1 Piece
A masterpiece that can be used for a lifetime with proper care. Japanese Chusan Palm brooms are carefully made one by one by craftsmen, and are manufactured with the satisfaction of the buyer in mind.
This is a Chusan Palm leather tatami broom made in the Showa era by Maruboshi-jirushi Hoki Kogyosho, a broom manufacturing company whose existence can no longer be confirmed. We found 3 dead stock items. We have 2 in stock, but only this one is in perfect condition (the other one has cracks in the bamboo handle).
This listing is for one broom. Please contact us separately if you need more than one.
It is estimated that over 35 years have passed since its manufacture and sale. While no clear deterioration was found within the scope of inspection, the white pipe tape has some dirt, and the packaging vinyl shows signs of age-related deterioration and may be detached. Please consider this item understanding that it is old and has been stored in a warehouse for a long time.
This is a 9-tuft broom, close to the maximum size for household brooms, and its shape is formed with copper wire. Although it has 9 tufts, they are not all the same size; the three tufts in the center and at both ends are thicker, while the remaining six tufts are thinner. The tip is somewhat spread out, but the Chusan Palm skin shape is preserved as you move up towards the handle. I haven't used it, so I don't know the details, but I've heard it can be used for many years with proper care.
The bamboo handle is not ordinary Moso bamboo, but a type used for tea ceremony utensils, shakuhachi, and high-grade bamboo poles, with a mottled pattern like persimmon tannin dyeing. The overall appearance is beautiful and impressive.
Although it is just a broom, the shipping size will be around 160, so the shipping cost will be relatively high even for one broom.
Therefore, bulk purchases are very welcome.

[Description]
A Chusan Palm hand broom made by a craftsman. Compared to the Onige (bristly) type, Chusan Palm skin brooms have finer fibers, a very soft sweeping feel, and gather dust by gently stroking the tatami or floor.
New Chusan Palm bristles may shed easily.
They will stabilize after some shedding.
*Due to natural materials and handmade products, there may be slight differences in size and appearance.
