This listing is for 12 blocks of spent shiitake mushroom cultivation substrate.

Rhinoceros beetle larvae are known to eat this substrate readily and grow large.
The key to raising large adult rhinoceros beetles lies in providing nutrient-rich food during the larval stage.

The 12 blocks will be shipped in a 100-size cardboard box.
The size of each block may vary slightly.
Average dimensions: Approximately 12cm (length) x 10cm (width) x 11cm (depth).
*As the blocks are currently drying, they may be smaller than the stated dimensions.
The blocks may break during transport. Also, as they are stored outdoors, small insects may have entered.
Please understand this before purchasing.

Green mold may appear due to humidity, but it will not affect the larvae.
If you are concerned, you can wash it off with water before use.

Before use, soak the blocks in water to moisten them, then bury them in the substrate.

*Image 4 shows rhinoceros beetle larvae eating the spent substrate. Larvae are not included in the product.

Ideal for nutritional replenishment after overwintering.

*For making original substrate:
Crush the blocks finely, mix with an appropriate amount of water and your preferred additives, and ferment to create your own original substrate.
The blocks will ferment on their own as the temperature rises.
Once fermentation is complete, they will turn a dark brown color.
