Japanese Honeybee Attractant Liquid 300ml (100ml x 3) Native Species y1003-0007
This is the liquid remaining after boiling down the honeycomb waste from Japanese honeybees and extracting beeswax.
We offer a convenient 3-pack of 100ml bottles for use as a swarm attractant.
These smaller packs are easy to store in the freezer, utilizing any available space.
Please be aware that the liquid may ferment upon arrival. Open the cap carefully.
We strive to ship orders within 2 days of your request, but delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances. We appreciate your understanding.
While labeled as a swarm attractant, this liquid is primarily used to impart a scent to the hive box. Japanese honeybees tend to prefer hive boxes with a history of nesting. For new bait hives, using this liquid to simulate a used hive can be effective.
Honeybees have a keen sense of smell, so diluting the liquid with water is acceptable.
I personally use it diluted 2 to 4 times.
〈Example Usage Methods〉
?Spray onto the bait hive.
?Apply with a brush.
?Wipe on with a rag or cloth.
?Boil the hive box or frames in a large pot or industrial can filled with water mixed with the attractant.
?Alternatively, ladle the liquid over the hive or apply it with a wooden stick wrapped in cloth.
I used to use an industrial can, but recently I've been using a spray for convenience.
I find it to be sufficiently effective.
In any case, it is often said that the treated hive box must be dried thoroughly to prevent mold growth. I have never experienced mold growth with this method.
The season for preparing bait hives is often dry, and I believe that placing the treated hive box outside after treatment will allow it to dry quickly without conscious effort.
This is a natural product. As it is collected by hand, there may be residual wax or impurities mixed in. Please do not be concerned.
If using a spray, filtering the liquid through a cloth will help prevent clogging.
The product is shipped at room temperature. If you do not plan to use it all this season, freezing is recommended for storage.
At room temperature, it can ferment, and if the cap is tightly sealed, the container may expand significantly. I have used it even after fermentation and found it effective, but mold may form on the surface of the liquid in the container. Therefore, freezing is recommended if you do not plan to use it immediately. Please understand that even with this attractant, beeswax, and other lures, the success rate of attracting a swarm is not 100%. Even with thorough preparation, the entry rate is said to be 10-20% for beginners and up to 30% for experienced beekeepers. However, as experienced beekeepers know, the joy of a successful swarm capture is unparalleled. It is a truly special and moving experience. I sincerely wish for the success of all who purchase this product.
