The top surface is polished to a brilliant shine, and all four corners are rounded. The top and bottom edges are beveled to prevent injury. The shine is achieved through polishing, not coatings, so you can use it with confidence as a kitchen pastry slab or for serious home use.
Natural granite has high thermal conductivity and low specific heat capacity, making it cool to the touch. This helps suppress dough temperature rise and prevents sticking, making it very useful for kneading pizza, bread, pie, and confectionery dough, as well as for tempering chocolate and for shaving applications.
