The top surface is polished to a high shine. The 12 edges are chamfered to prevent injury. The shine is achieved through polishing, not coating, so you can use it with confidence.

Natural marble has high thermal conductivity and low specific heat capacity, making it cool to the touch. This helps to suppress the temperature rise of dough, preventing it from becoming sticky. It is very useful for kneading pizza, bread, pie, and confectionery dough, as well as for chocolate work.
