I lapped the raw stone myself.
This is at a beginner DIY level, so please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for perfection.
I think this is perfect for those who want to try using a natural whetstone but find professional ones too expensive.
There are laminations and chips, so the stone has been coated with cashew except for the lapped surface.
This stone finishes with a uniform, bright, cloudy polish.
It produces slurry easily and is easy to sharpen, but it will leave lines on Japanese knives.
I don't think the lines will be noticeable on double-beveled Western knives.
As this is a natural stone, there may be lines or inclusions that were not apparent during my test sharpening.
Please consider this point as well when making your decision.
