Okudo Sūita Natural Whetstone Approx. 21cm x 8.6cm x 5cm
Okudo Sūita is a type of natural whetstone that was mined in Umegeba, Kyoto. Although the mine is now closed, it was once highly popular, comparable to whetstones from famous production areas like Nakayama, Shobu, and ōtsuki. ? The Appeal of Okudo Sūita: Unrivaled Popularity Among Okudo whetstones, Sūita in particular holds immense popularity. Ideal for Woodworking Tools Many are hard-grained, making them especially suitable for sharpening woodworking tools. Although they are hard whetstones, their high polishing power makes them recommended for those considering transitioning from synthetic to natural whetstones.
Okudo Sūita is a type of natural finishing whetstone highly favored by craftspeople. Mined in Okudo, Kyoto, this natural whetstone possesses unique quality, performance, and beauty.
In my personal opinion, with the mine now closed, an Okudo Sūita of this size is unlikely to appear on the market.
The sides and bottom have been reinforced with cashew coating. A polycarbonate sheet, the same size as a Black Magician sharpening stone, is attached to the bottom with silicone caulking.
