About Kamilavka
KAMILAVKA is a Japanese hat brand.
The designer is Masakazu Furusawa. In 2001, he joined Haute Mode Hirata, the pinnacle of Japanese millinery. Under the tutelage of Akio Hirata, a leading hat designer, he learned the techniques of Kijima Takayuki and Haute Mode as a milliner. He left the company in 2009 and launched furusawamasakazu, a brand specializing in hats. In 2011, he established the atelier Kamilavka in Meguro.
KAMILAVKA refers to the cylindrical hat worn by priests in the Christian Orthodox Church. This has been a signature item consistently produced since the brand's inception.
In 2014, the atelier's name, KAMILAVKA, became the brand name, and a flagship store opened in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo. The brand proposed hats that blended haute couture elements, with the concept of creating rich value unbound by existing forms and concepts. The brand announced the end of its activities in 2020.
This is a dark green hat from KAMILAVKA. I collected it because I love Akio Hirata's hats.
A unique and unisex piece by Masakazu Furusawa.
It is heavily inspired by Akio Hirata.
A must-have for hat enthusiasts.
