Description
Makes you want to flip it over: The principle and mechanism of movement
Galileo x Hourglass = Oscilloglass
The charm of movement meticulously crafted by artisans.

Oscilloglass is a mechanical hourglass that measures time by being flipped over.

The components sealed within the glass are pulled by Earth's gravity, and move with the force of their descent. The falling speed is controlled by the same principle as a mechanical watch, as it slowly descends and eventually stops. It is a unique device that allows you to feel the flow of time not only through its timekeeping function but also through its movement, sound, and vibration.

Oscilloglass is composed of three elements: power source, escapement, and regulator. These overlap with the elements of a mechanical watch. We will briefly explain how it moves and expresses time, step by step.

Power Source and how force is transmitted
While the power source of a typical mechanical watch is a mainspring, Oscilloglass uses potential energy from gravity.
The internal unit's tendency to fall is converted into rotational motion by the meshing of a rack and pinion. Similar to a mechanical watch, this rotational motion is transmitted through gears, converted into reciprocating motion by an escapement consisting of a escape wheel and an anchor, and then connected to the oscillating rotation of a balance wheel and hairspring-composed regulator.

Escapement and Regulator to keep time
To keep time accurately, the gears must move at a constant speed. The escapement and regulator work together to fulfill this role.
The hairspring, which has isochronism, brings a constant period to the reciprocating rotation of the balance wheel. Following the period of this balance wheel, the two pallets of the anchor alternately stop and release the teeth of the escape wheel, causing the gears to rotate at regular intervals. This allows the gears to rotate at a constant speed and keep time accurately.

Time Display
Oscilloglass does not use a dial or hands; it indicates the measured time by the position of the fall.
This Oscilloglass has only one frame, placed in the center, allowing the basic components of a mechanical watch to be visible from various angles.
