This is Shirakaba, a high-quality, handmade Japanese paper for calligraphy.
It is cut from a full sheet (approx. 70cm width) into 1/6 size strips (22cm x 70cm), making it a convenient size for both practice and creating artwork.
This is old paper (kogami) purchased about 30 years ago and carefully stored at home.
It is said that aging the paper for a long time allows the fibers to settle, resulting in good ink absorption and a unique, deep character not found in modern papers.
