Maasai Tribe Handmade Wooden Salad Tongs, Tableware, Kenya Folk Craft

Purchased from a craft shop run by the Maasai people of the Republic of Kenya.

These are salad tongs handmade by the Maasai people.

While the craftsmanship might not be considered perfect by Japanese standards, I believe they developed these items for foreign tourists, rather than for their own daily use, considering their lifestyle.

They are full of a handmade feel, made from natural materials, and the zebra motif, which is familiar to them, evokes a sense of generosity and simplicity.

I originally intended to use them myself, but ultimately, I haven't used them as I don't have a habit of serving large dishes or using tongs.

Upon further reflection, I've come to realize that perhaps these are not so much kitchenware for practical use, but rather folk crafts to appreciate while displaying, allowing one to contemplate their culture and way of life.

I would be happy to pass them on to someone who will cherish them.
