※ Hikihaku is Japanese paper used in Nishijin weaving (mainly for high-end obi sashes). Pure silver or gold leaf is used, and various techniques such as lacquering, dyeing, firing, and rubbing are employed. There are many varieties, and many of the techniques are trade secrets, with various names for the techniques.
