Kanou Musubi (Fulfilling Knot): When viewed from the front, the knot looks like the character 口 (mouth), and from the back, it looks like the character 十 (ten). It is an auspicious knot meaning wishes come true. It resembles a bow knot but has a different knot structure. Unlike a bow knot (double slip knot) which can be untied by pulling, the Kanou Musubi is a knot that cannot be untied.
Aioi Musubi (Mutual Growth Knot): Aioi means to grow together from one place. It is compared to growing together or long life for a couple and is one of the auspicious knots for forming bonds.
Awaji Musubi (Awaji Knot): A type of mizuhiki knot called musubikiri. It is considered the highest-ranking mizuhiki knot, forming the basis for all auspicious and inauspicious occasions. The Awaji Musubi, which is difficult to untie once tied and tightens further when both ends are pulled, carries the wish for everlasting and unbroken connection and to remain tightly bound.
Katacho Musubi (Single Butterfly Knot): A knot where only one loop of a butterfly knot is formed. Because it can be easily untied and retied, it is used to signify auspicious occasions and things that can happen repeatedly.
Dakiawaji Musubi (Embracing Awaji Knot): An advanced version of the Awaji Musubi. While a regular Awaji Musubi is made with three strands, the Dakiawaji Musubi is made by creating an Awaji Musubi with three strands by three strands.
