The TSS Portable measures turbidity, SS (suspended solids), and sludge interface with a single unit.
It uses two 860nm LED light sources. Turbidity is measured using a two-light path system where each of the two light sources' 90° scattered light is received by a single detector. SS is measured using an 8-light path system where 90° and 120° scattered light from each of the two light sources are received by four detectors each.
For sludge interface measurement, the probe is submerged into the water sample, and the position where the SS value significantly increases is read from the cable immersion length.
