This is a rice tub that was used in the past.
You might not know what an ohitsu is, even though it's called that. It's likely from the early to mid-Showa period. This was back when rice cookers were gas-powered. Since there were no functions to keep cooked rice warm, people would transfer the rice to an ohitsu and bring it to the dining table to eat.
The ohitsu was also convenient for storage.
I think everyone had one in their home back then.
I am selling this due to decluttering.
It is in beautiful condition for its era.
There is a groove to hold the rice paddle, to keep it clean and prevent it from getting buried in the rice.
