Inspired by the Year of the Dragon in 2024, this collection revives dragon embroidery selected from numerous vintage sukajan jackets. This piece is a reproduction of a very rare vintage jacket from the early 1950s, featuring dragon patterns on both sides, making it a fitting special edition for the Year of the Dragon. The front side features a blue acetate fabric that evokes a clear sky, combining a Japanese landscape with a dragon. The grand composition, using many threads of similar colors, depicts a majestic dragon encircling a five-story pagoda and Mount Fuji in the background, which is very rare. The chest features eagles and tigers, and together with the back, it is a luxurious design that covers the three major motifs of eagles, tigers, and dragons, as well as landscape patterns. The ribbing, in a contrasting green with red lines, is also a charming vintage detail. In contrast, the reversible side features a dragon with a powerful composition that seems to be approaching you. The waves and clouds are made with vibrant colored threads, and the ribbing is based on a red color scheme, creating a finish where the accent colors stand out against the black and silver body. The chest embroidery features the same eagle and tiger design as the front, but upon closer inspection, the use of colored threads is different. This is because, at the time, the same embroidery pattern was used for both sides, and you can see the craftsman's dedication to changing the color tones to match the fabric color, even with the same design.

This Special Edition is a collection by Tailor Toyo that meticulously reproduces particularly select masterpieces with a focus on detail. In addition to the elaborate designs meticulously drawn with a chain stitch embroidery, the acetate fabric's weave is adjusted to match the vintage feel, and the wool ribbing is knitted one by one using an old-fashioned flat knitting machine. The reversible zipper is also reproduced using a fastening machine from over 50 years ago, recreating the hand-bent style of the time.
