Originally, these jackets were named after motifs related to the countries where US soldiers were stationed, which they embroidered as souvenirs to bring back home. Famous examples like the Sukajan (Souvenir Jacket) and Betojan (Vietnam Jacket) are popular in the vintage market.

This time, WAIPER.inc has recreated the Greenland Souvenir, said to have been brought back by US soldiers stationed at the Thule Air Base in Greenland during World War II.

The Top of the World on the back is a phrase symbolizing the Thule Air Base at 76 degrees North latitude, meaning the top of the world. It was the northernmost US military base in the world, built amidst extreme cold and isolation. The Top of the World Club, famous as the northernmost bar in the world, was a place of relaxation for the soldiers. A famous anecdote tells of soldiers joking, Even in sub-zero temperatures, the beer is lukewarm. During the Cold War, this phrase became their spiritual symbol, imbued with pride and humor from the front lines.

The biggest focus is on the rib tension. We've recreated the slightly loose, wavy, and uneven shape found in vintage pieces! It already exudes an outstanding vintage atmosphere. Furthermore, the relaxed sizing ensures it won't interfere with inner tops when layering, allowing for stress-free and stylish layered outfits.
