【Rare Mint Condition】Bamboo Craft Porcelain Base Bamboo Woven Chinese Tea Set 4-Piece Vintage
Thank you for looking.
This is a lidded teacup (gaiwan) made using Citaichippen, a traditional Chinese craft where finely split bamboo is woven onto a porcelain surface.
Features and Background
Craftsmanship: This technique involves a craftsman hand-weaving extremely fine bamboo threads onto a porcelain base. It is a traditional folk craft originating from regions like Sichuan Province in China, with a history dating back to the Qing Dynasty.
Usage: It is a Sancai Gaiwan set, consisting of three parts: a lid, a bowl (teacup), and a saucer. It is primarily used as a tea ceremony utensil for enjoying Chinese tea.
Rarity: As this is a highly labor-intensive handmade item, it is often treated as a vintage or antique piece and holds value as a decorative craft.
This was a gift, but I am listing it because I feel it would be a waste not to use it.
From the time I received it, there were some yellowish adhesive-like marks in places, but otherwise, it is a beautiful item with no chips or cracks.
It does not come with a box. This is an item not commonly seen in Japan.
Would this be of interest to those who like antiques?
This is a set of 4. It will be packed with cushioning material for shipping.
I own pets. While it is stored in a room inaccessible to pets, please understand this if you are considering purchasing.
