The densely woven cotton is treated with a tough, flavorful wax finish. This, combined with the unique texture of the material, creates a cool and fresh look. It's a charming, oversized, menswear-inspired coat.

The material is manufactured by HALLEY STEVENSONS, a long-established fabric maker in Scotland.

This technique originally began in the 15th century when sailors applied oil to sailcloth to improve its performance and durability. Over many years, it has been refined into a wax finish suitable for clothing, with minimal stickiness and a moderate moist feel. It's an aging fabric that develops character with wear.

Features distinctive wooden toggles, slightly irregularly placed, hanging from braided hemp cords. The wood color is a soft, pale light beige with a subtle pinkish hue.

The color is a bright and beautiful olive/pistachio green, which would pair well with navy, white, or black.

The interior of the back and sleeves are navy cotton. Details include a tabbed hood and wide twill tape reinforcement on the back of the left and right front closures, adding character throughout.

Large side pockets are also convenient. The generous width allows for layering with thick sweaters. The sleeve length might be slightly short, but it would also fit men.

Purchased after being worn 3-4 times. The size was too large for me, so I have not worn it. I noticed a tear/scratch a few centimeters from the hem on the left side when viewed from the back during photography for this listing. It may be possible to request a darning repair at Howell. Please be aware of this in advance. It has not been dry cleaned, but it has been professionally cleaned for antibacterial purposes and is in clean condition. Suitable for casual everyday wear.
