Nikko Sunada Medium Grain 2L (Also for mixing with succulents, etc.)
Nikko Sand (Super Hard Kanuma Soil)
Medium Grain, 2 Liters
#Yamasan's Soil
Nikko Sand refers to the hardest type of pumice soil from the Kanuma soil family, produced around Kanuma City, specifically in the vicinity of Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. It is said to be even harder than high-grade hard Kanuma soil, truly representing the finest quality of Kanuma soil.
While Kanuma soil is readily available at home centers nationwide, this Nikko Sand is rarely found even in home centers within Tochigi Prefecture. It is expensive (approximately twice the price of hard Kanuma soil, and more than three times the price of general Kanuma soil) and difficult to obtain.
It is sterile, boasts excellent drainage and aeration, retains moisture, and is extremely hard, making it resistant to crumbling. It is primarily used as a component in soil mixes for high-quality bonsai, orchids, and wild plants.
Larger grains are used as drainage material at the bottom of pots.
Its high drainage and aeration, along with its extreme hardness, make it suitable for soil mixes for succulents such as Haworthia, Agave, and cacti.
