Kiryu sand is a type of mountain sand produced around Kiryu City, characterized by its high iron content, which is essential for plant growth.
Its porous and angular structure promotes root branching, and its excellent drainage and aeration, along with its hardness and resistance to crumbling, make it primarily used as a component in bonsai soil.

Larger grains are used as drainage material at the bottom of pots.

Its high drainage and aeration, along with its hardness, make it suitable for use in soil mixes for succulents such as Haworthia, Agave, and cacti.

When growing succulents, the most common mistakes are overwatering or using soil with poor drainage and aeration, leading to root rot. To ensure healthy growth, we recommend using soil mixes like this one.
