《From the manufacturer's website description》
This Kagami Mochi, traditionally offered to the Toshigami (New Year's deity) and symbolizing accumulated fortune, is crafted from cypress wood, known for its beautiful white grain.
The mochi, shaped on a lathe by artisans, appears freshly pounded, with the wooden mold created and supervised by Jihei Murase.
You'll also find comfort in the gentle aroma of the wood.
The daidai (bitter orange) is the work of a sculptor, made from Japanese Yew (Ichi-i) wood, renowned as an auspicious tree. Each piece is hand-carved, preserving the natural wood color, and finished with a natural wood stem.
