Description
Good Fortune Descends from the Mountains
Shimekazari: Koi Me Goen (Carp Eye Connection)
This item has been opened but is unused.
This shimekazari (New Year's wreath) is made from 100% Yamagata Prefecture-grown rice straw and rice stalks, from the brand Good Fortune Descends from the Mountains designed by Yoshino Toshimitsu Design Office.
It is crafted by Kobo Straw, a farmer and artist based in Mamurogawa Town, Yamagata Prefecture.
The rice stalks are hand-planted and hand-harvested using organic, pesticide-free cultivation methods for straw crafts and food, and then naturally dried.
All parts are connected using only rice stalks, without any foreign materials like wire or string, making it truly a shimekazari that returns to nature.
Koi Me Goen (Carp Eye Connection) is inspired by the carp's eye pattern, a symbol of good fortune.
The carp is said to have overcome swift currents to become a magnificent dragon and ascend to heaven, embodying wishes for success and advancement in life.
