【New, Unused】Shimenawa (Sacred Rope) - 2 Shaku 5 Sun (75cm) - Misuhira General Store
20.46 $
Description
Specialty store for Shinto shrine offerings, Misuhira Wholesale Store
This is a sacred rope from a reputable Shinto shrine supply store in Asakusa.
I am listing it as new and unused because I mistakenly ordered the wrong size. I believe it's a better deal than buying on the website as shipping is included.
Includes 4 zigzag paper strips (Shide)
-Quoted from website-
It is attached to the unban (cloud board) part of the kamidana (Shinto altar) to prevent evil from entering.
Please attach the sacred rope so that the thicker end faces to the right when viewed from the front.
It is convenient to use a yo-ore (screw nail) fitting for installation.
Officially, it is tied to the fitting with red and white mizuhiki (decorative cords) or hemp string, but it is also acceptable to insert the sacred rope directly into the fitting.
The sacred rope comes with 4 zigzag paper strips (Shide).
There is a theory that Shide represents thunder, which purifies evil.
*Please note that although the packaging includes a flyer offering a magatama (comma-shaped bead) as a gift for posting a review, this is not included with this item.
