Fish are widely cherished as auspicious symbols, often representing a life of abundance (having surplus), career advancement, and prosperity of descendants. In particular, sea bream (meaning celebration), carp (climbing the waterfall), and goldfish (financial luck) are representative motifs. In Feng Shui, water signifies wealth and development, making it effective for improving luck at the entrance or in the living room.

⭐︎ Double Fish (Sogyo) is a very auspicious pattern of Chinese origin with two fish facing each other. Because its pronunciation is similar to 余 (yú) meaning surplus, it symbolizes financial luck and prosperity. Due to the prolific nature of fish, it also signifies the prosperity of descendants, and the harmony of yin and yang represents marital harmony. It has been known since the Han Dynasty as an auspicious design that invites wealth and happiness.

Main Auspicious Meanings of Double Fish (Double Fish Pattern):
Abundant Wealth (Financial Luck)
In Chinese, the word for fish (鱼, yú) has the same pronunciation as 余 (yú), meaning surplus or having plenty. Therefore, it symbolizes good fortune in finances and wealth, leading to an abundant life.
Prosperity of Descendants / Prolificacy
Since fish lay many eggs at once, it carries the meaning of wishing for a growing family and the eternal prosperity of the lineage.
Marital Harmony / Longing for Each Other
The image of two fish nestled together symbolizes romantic relationships and marital harmony. It is also said to represent the love of a wife thinking of her distant husband, based on ancient poetry, and is believed to bring good relationships.
Career Advancement / Success (Carp Double Fish)
Especially when two carp are depicted, drawing from the legend of the Dragon Gate, it becomes a highly auspicious motif signifying career advancement and leaps forward.
