Gold leaf pressed-picture Kabuki Hagoita (New Year's battledore) - Late Master Nishiyama Kōgetsu - Ichikawa Danjūrō - Ebizō - Shinnosuke - Yosaburō - Misumasu

# Tail Feather Battledore

This is an Oshie battledore (a decorative Japanese battledore) with a Kabuki motif, kept stored in its box as part of a collection, never displayed.
Based on the facial features and material selection, it is presumed to be the work of the previous generation artist, Kōgetsu Nishiyama.

Performance: Yowa Nasake Ukina no Yokogushi (The Love of a Bad Woman)
Role: Yosaburo
Actor: Shinnosuke Ichikawa (later Ebizo → Danjuro)

The Ichikawa Danjuro family's crest, Mitsu-masu (three rhombuses), is depicted on the back.

The facial painting is beautiful, and the intricate craftsmanship throughout is impressive.
It is believed to be from the mid-Showa period, featuring a luxurious design with three sheets of gold leaf applied to the paulownia wood board.
The use of period-appropriate fabrics, cords, and silk threads will surely delight antique enthusiasts.

Although it is an antique, it is in excellent condition with no visible scratches or stains. Only the box shows some signs of age.

This is a festive performance suitable for the New Year. Please enjoy the alluring stage presence of the young Ebizo (Shinnosuke), who has now inherited the name Ichikawa Danjuro, along with this small battledore.
Originally intended for framing, if you wish to display it standing, please lean it against something as shown in the photo.

Battledore: Approximately 18.5 cm (height)

Shipping via Yu-Packet Post planned.

? In the Kabuki play Yowa Nasake Ukina no Yokogushi, the protagonist Yosaburo was played by the eighth Danjuro Ichikawa.
