Final Price - Warrior Banner - Taiko Kiyomasa [Remake Fabric] Magnificent Warrior Painting - Approx. 9m x Approx. 85cm
Musha-nobori (warrior banners) are banners decorated with warrior paintings, displayed in gardens and other areas to celebrate the birth of a boy on Children's Day, wishing for good health and success in life.
Origin: The roots of these banners lie in the hata-sashimono (military flags) used on battlefields during the Sengoku period to indicate the presence of one's army and distinguish friend from foe.
To a Peaceful Era: In the Edo period, a custom emerged in samurai society of decorating with banners bearing family crests on Children's Day.
Spread to the Common People: By the mid-Edo period, vibrant banners depicting Kintaro and warriors became popular among townspeople, and this is said to have led to the birth of today's Koinobori (carp streamers).
